This is Tachibana Makoto. I'm sorry that I didn't make it to the phone in time. If you could leave a message, I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Take care
It's all right. You brought it all the way from your world, you should enjoy it, too.
[He took a bite from his own piece of chocolate. He'd have to savor this and maybe hide it from Nagisa. He was instantly in heaven. It tasted so good compared to all of the bland food and scavenged canned goods.]
I was even without tasting it. [... Which of course sounds REALLY DIRTY as soon as he says it, so he quickly tries to recover.] THAT IS seeing- ['Seeing you smile is more enjoyable'? OH MY GOD HAYATO YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE THE SMART ONE] Seeing it being enjoyed is - well a good deed is its own reward or some shit! [He shoves the piece of chocolate in his mouth to just shut himself up already.]
[He can't help but laugh a bit from his throat at seeing Gokudera being so flustered. He was probably the type of person that didn't give gifts as often as some people. It made him grateful that he received one from him.]
I think sharing something like this makes it taste better too, you know?
[BECAUSE DOING THINGS TOGETHER MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER!]
[Gokudera writes that off as just being naturally humble for Makoto. He's not going to get his hopes up, his life is not that kind. But it makes him feel good to see the other pleased at the compliment.] More of a fact than an opinion. And Uri agrees with me.
Yeah. She was happy to be back at the apartment, but she was kinda bummed at not being able to hunt like a wildcat anymore. I think she's happy to be back here.
Yeah. [Gokudera heads that way. He's not sure he should unload such heavy stuff right away, but... he wants to talk to someone about it, and Makoto's really the only one he trusts.] ... So. Uh. While I was gone - in the world I went to, I got to talk to my mom. [Pause] ... She died. When I was a kid.
Yeah. It's - it's kind of a long story, what happened to her. I could tell something was off when I first got there but I couldn't tell what exactly, you know? Aside from the furniture in my room being rearranged. Anyway, I was goin' through this pile of mail I had and there was a letter from her. Just the typical 'Hey how are you enjoying Japan' mom kinda checking in thing.
A little. She was in Italy so I didn't have enough time to actually see her, but I called her up. Mostly trying to see if she was happy, if she was sick at all, just things about her life. I never got to know her that well.
[Actually he worried the hell out of her because he talked with her on the phone for like six hours straight and sounded near crying the whole time.]
Apparently she was never sick in that world, so when my dad proposed she married him. I was actually a legitimate kid in that world.
Yeah. It was weird, but nice. When - uh, back in my world... the universe I'm from, I wasn't allowed to know she was my mom. Mafia family, bastard children from mistresses is kinda a big no-no. 'Course, she was half Japanese, so the whole 'hey you're an illegitimate kid' thing was a shocker to only me.
Yeah. It was ... it was nice. She played the piano for me a little. She taught me how to play when I was younger. [he sighs, taking the cigarette out of his mouth briefly and looking at it, then putting it back in.]
Sorry to unload all this on you. I just... you're the only one I really feel comfortable talking to about this.
I would have gone with 'less angry at the world like it owes you something'. [He's not ENTIRELY without self-awareness. Still, he smiles a little.] I dunno, I always thought that - that if I had my mom, things would have been different. I would have been different. But ... it seemed like I was still pretty much the same, just for different reasons.
... You know, it'd probably be better if I didn't find you back on my world, I bet you're some legendary hitman with a heart of gold. It's always the nice ones.

A-ah...yeah. Haha. I'm happy to hear that you think so.
[He doesn't have an excuse for his own cheeks to start turning color.]
[action]
[action]
How is Uri-chan? Did she go with you?
[action]
[action]
She must have a lot of fun being able to get in touch with her wild side.
[action]

[He tilts his head towards the living area.]
Let's sit down.
[action]
[action]
The...alternate world, right?
[He is more than willing to listen if he needs to talk.]
[action]
[action]
Did you ask her anything that you've wanted to ask her?
[action]
[Actually he worried the hell out of her because he talked with her on the phone for like six hours straight and sounded near crying the whole time.]
Apparently she was never sick in that world, so when my dad proposed she married him. I was actually a legitimate kid in that world.
[action]
It sounds like it was a valuable time there. Do...you feel like you got closure?
[And now he knows more about Gokudera. Some very precious information.]
[action]
[action]
[It sounds rough from what he was hearing. He doesn't know how to respond, really. Other than just listen to him]
I'm glad that you got to talk to her.
[action]
Sorry to unload all this on you. I just... you're the only one I really feel comfortable talking to about this.
[action]
I don't mind listening to what you need to say.
[He looks a little embarrassed.]
I just...don't know what to say half of the time.
I'm very happy that you got to experience that. I know that if I ever lost my mother, well, I don't know what any of us would do.
It also explains why you seem a little more...hmm...how to put it...?
Subdued. Yeah.
[action]
[action]
And there's nothing wrong with that.
